Deventer Hospital now Sandton Gilde Hotel

When I visited Deventer the only place with open rooms was the Sandton Gilde Hotel. When I arrived I learned its history! During the time before WW it was a hospital. I assume it is where my uncle practiced, their house was only a few blocks away.

Its a gorgeous building. Here is the history from the website (hotelgilde.nl):

Hotel history

The building has had various destinations. In 1751 the building was converted into a complex Roman Catholic parish. The church was on the site of the right part of the present hotel. By the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity in 1856 a store and sewing school established. In 1896 started the new building on the Rue Neuve. The former church and house were demolished to make way for a new hospital. During construction of the hospital is considered a 15th century style. This hospital was inaugurated in 1897. Since 1958, the Foundation for Senior Citizens located in the Rue Neuve St. Lebuinus. During the subsequent period, the building also served as a shelter for Old Indian fighters, and until 1996 as family replacement home. The hotel's unique architecture and ambiance of the past preserved. The authentic stained glass is reflected in the windows and the beautiful staircase with large galleries give the hotel a historic look.
